My heart is breaking because of this possible slaughter that could bring about the extinction of many whale species. I wouldn’t want to live in a world without whales. You are all people who have the ability not only to make the call, or email, but to reach more people. If we can just get the word out, together we can help save one of the most mystical creatures on this planet. The more calls, emails or faxes that start spilling out the more we can start flooding them with the importance of this issue. If enough of us do this, we can make a difference!!! Let’s change the vote!! WHAT HAS HAPPENED,
Reports that the U.S. delegation to the IWC may be supporting a proposal to overturn the ban on commercial whaling would run counter to campaign pledges made by then presidential candidate Barack Obama. Despite refusal to honor the moratorium by Japan, Iceland, and Norway, the moratorium has proven to be the most important whale conservation agreement in history. A working group of the IWC is meeting in St. Pete Beach Florida this week to discuss the controversial proposal.

* It would allow whaling to take place in the Southern Ocean whale sanctuary and legitimize commercial whaling rather than seeking to phase it out. With a single stroke, this proposal would reverse nearly three decades of progress in protecting whales.

* It will set interim quotas – the number of whales each country is allowed to catch – based on political need, not scientific evidence. This is a return to the practices of the last century which devastated whale populations.

* Adding insult to injury, the proposal would pass the costs of regulating whaling on to all members of the IWC, meaning that the taxpayers of even anti-whaling countries will be forced to support whaling operations.

This whole deal was brokered behind closed doors with NO environmental agency involved. Something is so very, very wrong and smacks of lies and deals and hidden agendas and tragedy beyond what my heart can bear.

alexia and i were talking in the car in central square when a silver volvo pulls up… 1st- man gets out of the back seat drivers-side, whips out his dick and starts pissing behind the wheel of the car… yes we are RIGHT THERE and he doesn’t notice.  2nd- back seat passenger-side gets out whips it out and starts pissing between the cars… still no notice.  3rd. i can’t believe it’s this time of the year already. i just moved to the east coast–Boston–and spent my thanksgiving here. the leaves had all dropped and gave me ample opportunity to crunch through them before the ice and snow. [all great sounds under my feet.]

i had arrived just in time to perform at the MassArt gallery downtown in The Speaker Project… playing inside a sculpture that amplified sound through bottles, cones, tubes and all sorts of joyous junk. It was then projected out of these speakers into the wide and high-ceiling space of the gallery. So if you hit a snare drum inside the speaker it sounded huge and never-ending.

this time last year i had just recorded my album, November Antique. and here we are. back again. the seasons have slipped right back into the vibe of that album–into the time of reflection, and pondering of new and old ideas.

four days ago i moved into my own little place. the studio is up and running again. it was an interesting journey deciding what to keep and what to not before moving 3000 miles. my life felt like the end of the film ‘the jerk’ when steve martin’s character wanders through his house saying he doesn’t need anything at all except “this lamp… this is all I need… and this channel changer…i need this channel changer…” my attachments to things seemed to circle exclusively around my record collection, studio and art stuff. these are the things that make me feel “at home.”

the holidays can be such an interesting time. i hope everyone’s able to take a moment for themselves as we rush through it all.
i am very grateful for all of you who have been a part of my life thus far and am looking forward to hearing more from each of you. thanks for being a part of this crazy journey.

as a thank you, i’ve been up learning, then recording a december appropriate song for you to have all just in the past few hours. (consider it hot off the press) I’ve embedded it (i hope) at the bottom of this post.

I love living on the edge.

My cousin asked for my help in this national film festival to do the score. He was given the theme spy, and in one weekend had to write, film and edit, then in less than one day I had to do the score.

Needless to say I hear a millions things I would do much differently, blah blah blah, but there isn’t enough time to think about it, let alone do it.

Besides I was already overwhelmed playing violin parts, when I can’t play the violin.
